In making this argument, the book traces the transformation from ‘traditional’ to ‘new’ (or ‘third way’) social democratic parties in the UK, Sweden, France, Italy and Spain. It also outlines some of the most important developments in social democratic policy-making at the European level. The book therefore provides an in-depth, theoretically-original, analytical narrative of the key empirical developments to affect contemporary social democratic parties in recent years. In highlighting some of the contradictions inherent to both ‘traditional’ and ‘new’ social democratic parties, the book does much to suggest some of the reasons for their continued decline over the past three decades.

David Bailey completed his PhD at the London School of Economics, and currently teaches at the University of Birmingham. His research focuses on social democratic parties and European integration. He has published articles in the Journal of Common Market Studies, and Comparative European Politics.

Interesting Ideas

I have read extensively about Kriya Yoga, but this is the first time I have seen anyone attempt to equate Kriya to the original Catholic Mass! He also has some radical ideas about sexual sublimation. Many books can be found with more extensive information about Kriya yoga that will serve the interested reader much better. Most of these books are offered without charge.

Yet to Explore this new World

I am yet to explore the voices that make up this story as I have tried to gather all the episodes before embarking on the adventure into the future. The idea for the heroine and the story line seem great. I know the actors are as I have listened to over 200 audio-books, many of them containing the same actors. Graphic Audio does a great job!

Even though I agree this is a very engaging book there are two things I look for when I invest in purchasing an audio book.
1. Is it an abridged edition? (I really dislike abridged versions!) (almost as much as a short book)
2. How many listening hours?
Other than these two very important questions I thought the reviews and specifications were accurate.

Amazing contemporary romance!

Fairytale Not Required is contemporary romance at its best. Filled with raw emotion and realism, we easily become absorbed in the passion, drama and romance of its two protagonists. There is no holding back when we become swept away by the tidal wave of romance palpable in this amazing contemporary read.

In Fairytale Not Required, we delve into the fiery and vibrant world of Astrid, a character whom I was immediately drawn to in No Knight Needed. Stephanie Rowe has successfully created a strong female protagonist in Astrid, one who is so unbelievably complex and realistic that when her back story unfolded I was completely immersed in her story. And what a heartbreaking story it is!

Very early on in the novel, we are held captive by the delicious introduction of the newest addition to Birch Crossing, Jason. Jason, much like Astrid, is an equally complex individual; although one that carries demons of his own. It is when these two amazing, complicated characters' lives become entwined that the real passion and drama begins.

Fairytale Not Required is an compelling read that is both hot and modern. It should most definitely be on your "Don't think, just buy now!" list. Bex `n' Books Rated 5 phenomenal fairies!

Stephanie knocks it out of the park with this one! Fairytale Not Required has everything you could possible want in a romance...
Amazing characters that are both trying to run from or forget their pasts only to run right smack dab into each other. Jason is ready and willing to open his heart to Astrid, but Astrid has her doubts about anything good actually being able to happen to her. Jason is determined to convince her otherwise.
This is a must read story that will grip your heart and have you staying up way past bedtime trying to finish.

This is a quick paced story that grabs a hold of you right from the start and won't let go. It's about two people that have both been hurt very deeply and need to learn how to trust and not judge each other by someone else's actions. They also have to learn about themselves and face their own demons.
I am very taken with Stephanie Rowe's writing and I haven't found any of her books that I don't love.

Laszlo Kurti is a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas (http://kurtilabs.com). He received his diploma from the University of Debrecen, Hungary, where he conducted research in the laboratory of Professor Sandor Antus. Subsequently he received is MS degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia working with Professor Michael Harmata, and his Ph.D. degree (2006) in synthetic organic chemistry under the supervision of Professor Amos B. Smith III (the University of Pennsylvania). From 2006-2010, he was a Damon Runyon Cancel Fellow in the group of Professor E.J. Corey at Harvard University.

Barbara Czakó was born and raised in Hungary. She received her Diploma from Lajos Kossuth University in Debrecen, Hungary (now University of Debrecen). She obtained her Master of Science degree at University of Missouri-Columbia. Currently she is pursuing his Ph.D. degree in synthetic organic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Gary A. Molander at the University of Pennsylvania.

Perfect for Cume's

I got this for my girlfriend who is knee deep in her organic cumes... It's been a lifesaver. And I look forward to taking advantage of it when I get to take mine.... Oh joy...

Great Read as well as reference

Let me preface this review with: I have a huge library of chemistry related books, of which books relating to name reactions has a prominent footprint. With that said, this is one of the most readable of its kind. Before this, I enjoyed the Jie-Jack Li name reaction book. However, as with all of them, it was just a reference manual. Kurti's, however, is a well thought out "text" with background on each reaction and color coded mechanisms. It is an excellent book for both beginners and PI's. Sick as it may sound, I actually purchsed a second copy for home as well as the office. My conclusion is that this is one of maybe 3 name reaction books that make a complete reference set.

Outstanding but don't buy the CD-ROM version if you have Windows 7 64-bit

The book is an outstanding work of scholarship and I completely agree with EJ Corey's review. The coverage of the 250 named reactions, especially the background, explanations, and supporting literature is encyclopedic. The presenation of the information is excellent, but suffers from a major problem.

Unless you have access to a 32-bit machine DO NOT purchase this version. MicroSoft offers a patch that Windows 7 (64-bit) users can download to enable software products written for XP and Vista to be run. I've had mixed success with getting the patch to run these older software apps in the 64 bit environment.

The bottom line is: Buy the paperback version at half the cost of this edition, or make friends with a Vista or XP machine owner.

I checked with Amazona and Elsevier for warnings about this compatibility issue. Both companies admitted that none had been made public. The IT help group at Elsevier were, of course, aware of the issue but offered no different solutions than downloading the MS patch.
